Program Note:

Those who are familiar with my compositions know that my works are usually unabashedly programatic; they frequently have a clear narrative or plot. Hindsight, however, is not programatic but rather an expression of a concept: the past is rarely how one remembers it. Themes that reoccur throughout the quartet will unfold with varying degrees of manipulation and development, but always framed in a slightly altered rhythmic context. At the end of the piece, fragments of these motifs come flooding to the forefront like nostalgic memories.
